The Flow Control Group design, manufacture and install a range of stop /flood logs for a wide range of applications in the water, wastewater, civil engineering, dockyard, and industrial process sectors.
The specification and selection of a stop log and its operating protocols is essential to its optimum performance.
The Flow Control Group are one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of specialist flow control equipment.
We design, manufacture and install a range of products including penstocks, flap valves, stop logs, floating arms, hydrostatic valves and specialist knife gate valves.
The Group also design and manufacture a complete range of operating equipment including valve mounting kits, extension spindles, pedestals, locking devices, chainwheels and handwheels.
Stop Logs are used mainly for weiring and isolation duties to allow maintenance of works. In treatment works stop logs are utilised in the isolation of screens.
Stoplogs are modular in nature, giving the operator of a gated structure the ability to control the water level in a channel by adding or removing individual stoplogs. A gate may make use of one or more logs. Each log is lowered horizontally into a space or bay between two grooved piers referred to as a stop log check. In larger gate structures, there will be multiple bays in which stoplogs can be placed to better control the discharge through the structure.
Stoplogs are frequently used to temporarily block flow through a spillway or canal during routine maintenance. At other times stoplogs can be used over longer periods of times, such as when a field is flooded and stoplogs are being used in smaller gates in order to control the depth of water in fields. The logs may be left in and adjusted during the entire time that the field is submerged.
As a specialist application the product can be used to protect property and critical assets from flood situation. The adapted stop log in this application is a Flood Gate.
